There’s a Road Train Going Nowhere
Do any of you Yanks out there know what a road train is, without looking it up? I certainly had no clue when I first got here, just as I have very little clue what Midnight Oil's songs are about, beyond a superficial, general idea. Having just gotten my first Midnight Oil cd (which of course I couldn't listen to on the way to work, as no one has portable cd players anymore!) I think it's time for a bit more Australian education. Happy Independence Day by the way;)

Like you I only learned what a Road Train is after coming to live in Australia. Though I have seen Road Trains in Oregon, but I think they are called something else there.
I knew what one was, having seen a few documentaries on them over here (more likely a British interest thing than for Americans) have a happy 4th Suzer (and Steve too of course) we shall be having a few folks round and have a few fireworks to annoy the neighbours with! :-)

Road Trains used to park outside my house in Booligal (Hay Plain) in the middle of the night whilst the driver had a kip in his custom made bunk/driving cab (seriously, they have bunks in there). The noise from the sheep stomping and baaing around in the back of the thing at 4am was irritating in the extreme.
Nah, I don't think I will tell them...no one asked;)
Probably trucks piggybacking along the road as they look somewhat like a train with an engine and some cars attached.
