I want to vote!

This is the first time I actually have strong enough feelings about the candidates to actually want to vote, rather than feeling obligated to vote out of a feeling that if I didn't, I'd be embarrassed to admit it. I feel just as strongly about the candidate I want to win as the one I would hate to win. I'm voting for Barack Obama, and I'll be gutted if Hillary Clinton wins. A woman with no respect for herself, who only stood by her husband after he cheated on her in order to further her political career, has no place as the first female president...a role model for the young women of America. That being said, I also feel the desire to attack Jesse Jackson for the first time ever. I've typically overlooked the fact that he seems to dislike white people, given the fact he has done so much good in his life, but his comments about Barak Obama not being black enough really make me sick. What right does he have to demand one man should take certain actions just because of the colour of his skin. Isn't it enough that by running successfully for president (whether he wins or not), he's paving the way for greater progress? Anyway, that's my vent. I'm off to get my absentee ballot.

Well, do you know for certain that Hillary stuck by Bill just to further her career? I'm not so sure of that. Anyway, I try not to let a candidate's personal life get in my way when considering who to vote for. Bill was a pretty good president and we did well as a country when he was in. Personally he made some stupid decisions! Not a good role model for young men, was he?

Not really sure who I'll be voting for in the primaries as yet. I've been listening and reading up to hear how they feel and what they'd do about key areas of concern for our country. The other night there was a forum on channel 11 and five of the major candidates were there. Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Hillary Clinton, Bill Richardson, and John Edwards. Barack Obama declined the invitation. The bulk of the show concerned health care in the US along with questions in other areas. I regret Barack's decision not to appear as I really wanted to hear what he had to say. Curious about why Barack is your choice. I just don't feel I know that much about him as a leader yet tp make me vote for him. I thought Hillary and John Edwards were the sharpest minds in the other night's discussion, and they had solid ideas as did the other three. I guess when it finally comes down to choosing in the primary, all other things being equal, I'll vote for the person who I think can win in the final battle. After all, we really must get rid of the republicans if we're going to move forward as a country!!

Barak Obama has been in plenty of debates; I'm sure he has to choose wisely with his time. Obama is straightforward, he answers questions rather than going around the question to promote himself as many of the candidates do, and I like what he has to say about the issues.

P.S. If I was younger, would you be ok with letting me know you voted for Hillary, and how would you explain that to me?

As I said above, I don't let a candidate's personal life cloud my mind when I vote. But, that aside, I don't think it was so wrong for her to "stick by her man". I really don't know all the details of that period in their lives, only what I heard in the news. I voted for Bill both times because I felt he could do the job.
Don't recall having to explain that decision to you. I vote my conscience and never let anyone sway me in that.

lol, if I remember correctly you tole me he was a pig but all men are pigs;)

Don't recall that comment:-)!
But, yeah, he was very stupid and disgusting in that situation. Sorry if I clumped all men together. If I did that wasn't good. Hopefully, if Hillary does go the distance, he'll behave himself. Now, I didn't say I was going to vote for her. Haven't decided as yet!

What say the rest of you out there???

I don't think anyone else has anything to say. Ah, so sad for my generation hey?

Me, I'm about to send off my absentee ballot, which should allow me to vote by the November elections.

It is so shit that you have to declare a party, btw.

By the way, I hear that someone with opposing political persuasion was going to make a comment, but thought better of it. Come on, would love to hear your view!

Huh?

By the way all, the easiest way to vote abroad is to go to your nearest US Consulate and get an absentee ballot. Quick and easy to mail in to your local County office back home.

Watched a late night discussion between Tavis Smiley and Barack Obama and must say I liked what I heard. Think that Obama has his sights set on breaking through the Washington establishment's way of doing things. Whether or not he can remains to be seen. The bigger question is can he override Hillary's standings in the pols and her support by the powerful democratic machine. Yeah, the more I listen to the both of them, he's a lot more likeable, humble(in a good way), and his thinking is outside the box! Even though he doesn't want blacks to vote for him just because he's black(he wants the decision to come from more substantive thinking), I think that'd be a powerful impetus for a lot of folks, as would a woman for others. I want the most qualified person who can win to emerge, but the idea of someone other than a white male would be groundbreaking here in the US.

Exactly!
