United Mileage Plus Complaints

I'm hoping to have a trip home at some point in the not too distant future and it absolutely burns me up that I have to use United / Air New Zealand again. I got Steve a United Mileage Plus number before we flew to Australia in March 2007 and to this date, after numerous phone calls, emails and written letters of complaint, United has still not credited Steve with his miles. They didn't even send a response to my written complaint, and I've rung them from New Zealand and been on the phone for half an hour trying to sort things. He's owed over 10,000 miles and they've just blown us off, again and again, despite the fact that he was in a booking class which did leave him eligible for those miles per United and Air New Zealand's guidelines. I can't wait until they open up the route and Virgin is a competitor!

And if that wasn't enough to keep you from choosing United, how about the fact that they've just grounded a few of their planes due to maintenance issues. Seems the firm they've outsourced their maintenance to isn't keeping up with FAA standards.

my sister uses united miles and while they do save them money, they have to book a year in advance for any trip. If they wait to book, "all the mileage seats" are already sold out.

I've never had any problems redeeming my miles. In fact I've never had any problems until now, but this is a huge problem.

Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog. You've made me realise I forgot to update my profile - I'm actually in Brisbane now. That said, if you're looking for yoga in Adelaide, I cam recommend a lady called Simi Roche, who is based in Adelaide city centre and practices Ashtanga yoga. Her website is http://www.adelaideashtangayoga.com.au/. She's a lovely woman, though I would recommend phoning, not emailing (in my experience, she doesn't often respond to email!)
All the best for your settling in to Adelaide. It's where I grew up and it's not without it's charm, although I mostly choose to live elsewhere :) I'll stop by your blog again I'm sure - I very much related to the quote at the top of your blog regarding travel... isn't it such a shame that practical considerations often tie us to one place :) Hope the adventures don't stop for you.

Thanks Megan. Checked out the website and it looks good. Had searched on my own but that found anything in the city centre that suited me, so perhaps I'll stop by as I haven't seen this place before. There's a place in Kilburn which also looked good, but as I am vehicularly challenged these days not sure how well that will work;) Hope you are enjoying Brisbane. Yes, Adelaide has it's charms, although I might choose to live elsewhere as well were it not for the 'practical considerations'. Will see!

Suzer, I've been battling United and Milegae Plus for not awarding mileage points on two overseas trips for me and one for my wife. Thier email replies are laughable. I think my next step will be the Australian Competition and Consumer Commision. I read that one in five people aren't awarded their points. The quote came from someone at United!

Wow! Out of curiosity, did you have your United Mileage Plus numbers in the booking before you travelled? You're best to forget doing anything with emails and ring them up. I don't know that an Australian organisation would be able to help, given it is a US company unfortunately. Let me know how it goes and best of luck.
