Watching one's husband jump out of a plane...

is slightly disconcerting. We went to Taupo this weekend so Steve could do just that, and stopped in Rotorua along the way. Now, it was a tandem skydive, so the Swiss fella on Steve's back did most of the work...at least in keeping him safe, as Steve was allowed to steer. I haven't seen a bigger grin on his face ever, aside from our wedding day.

Did you sometimes think that your husband may have been a bird in his former life?

I wonder if he had a long and boring former life and he's trying to make up for it in this one!

glad he made it down safely. I love the first picture where all you can see is a tiny dot. :)

Looks like fun. You didn't want to give it a try, huh? :-))

Good for Steve - in my youth I did a total of 17 jumps (never a tandem one though) - what an adrenaline rush!

So are you going to have a go then Susan?

:-)

Steveg: 17 jumps! No tandem...I thought you had to start with tandem?

Mom: Hell no...I'm afraid of heights to begin with, and I'm not paying $200 to have the crap scraed out of me.

Elsja: Click on the photos to make them larger. And, more to come...didn't have time to post them all last night. Have a video of Rotorua to come as well.

No when I did it you started off on a static line at 2500 feet and gradually go higher and the line got longer until it was no longer there (ater about a dozen or so jumps) things have changed somewhat now though, for one thing tandem jumps are the thing, becuase you get the freefall right from the start, and also get to jump a Ram Air chute (the rectangular box ones (with Air Brakes) - whereas I had a 28' double L canopy (ex military)

Still great fun though
