What's taking so long:(

We submitted my spousal visa six weeks ago tomorrow. Most people get their request to go for medicals within the first month, but I haven't heard anything yet. I'm hoping it's simply because it's close to Christmas, but boy is it a hard thing to wait on!

Mine took around 5 months in total. Got the forms for the med before I even lodged the application (the initial packet came with all the forms so I could send it all in at once).

Since I was in the US (Alaska) at the time, we went through the Aussie office in L.A. They even called me long distance when the approval came through.

It was quite a few years ago, so I'm sure things have changed.

My wife said the biggest prob with visa apps is that a lot of them are incomplete or not enough info, so cross all the t's and dot all the i's!

I think each processing office is different. I was told not to do my meds until they asked for them. I'll give my case officer a ring after the new year, although I don't really want to annoy her...but I have seen on australian visa timeline that other people who've had their visas processed in Auckland go their requests for meds within 2-3 weeks. Don't worry, our application was beautiful and I put in an extra cover letter detailing anything they might have questions about.
